Jankowsky and Loud Untouchable   

AMA District 34 Championship Series

The Fritz family hosted another round of the AMA District 34 Championship Series on Sunday, August 23^rd at the Hurricane Hills Sports Center. Mother Nature did not cooperate; rain the day before and a torrential downpour in the afternoon the day of the event made track conditions interesting. Brutal humidity didn’t help facilitate a drying of the racecourse either.  

Honda pilot, J.P. Jankowsky topped the podium of the 250 B division with a perfect 1-1. Jankowsky didn’t get the best start in the opening moto but quickly diced his way to the lead by the end of the first lap and rode uncontested to an easy win. Jankowsky led the start of the final moto, which was a sloppy mud fest after a torrential downpour, and once again rode on to the win uncontested. Patrick Desantis took second overall via a solid 2-2 and Jerome Justofin Jr. (3-4) took third.

Scott Jacoby, Fritz, and Justofin led the pack out of the second turn in the opening 250 B moto. Jacoby continued to hold the point after the pack cleared the downhill triple. Jankowsky, Samantha Fritz, Desantis and Justofin rounded out the top five. Jankowsky slowly reeled Jacoby in and made the pass for the lead seconds before the start of lap two. Jankowsky was setting a blistering pace. Fritz gained some time on Jacoby and made the pass to take second near the two and a half lap mark. Jacoby was relegated to third but then went down. Desantis inherited third and Justofin fourth. Jacoby re-mounted fifth. Fritz did all she could to hold off Desantis but went down with less than a quarter of a lap to go. Jankowsky got the win with a 13 second advantage. Desantis, Justofin, Fritz and Jacoby completed the top five.

A thunderstorm moved through the area in the afternoon and dropped a large amount of rain in a very short period of time that left the racecourse a sloppy mess with standing water and deep ruts.

Jankowsky, Desantis, Jacoby, Justofin and Fritz led the start of the final 250 B moto. The top five were all spread out by the start of lap two, undoubtedly due to nasty conditions. Jankowsky had a six second lead at the start of lap two but didn’t take any chances and took it down a notch to take the win with a four second lead. Desantis, Jacoby, Justofin and Fritz followed.

Tyler Loud, Ryan Troiano, Dirk Massaro, Justin Ferris and Jacob Hilstolsky led the start of the opening 250 C moto. Loud quickly left the pack behind to start lap two with a seven second lead. Mark Shupp, Hilstolsky, Troiano and Gary Smith rounded out the top five. Shupp went down at the end of lap two handing Hilstolsky second. Smith moved to third, Troianoi fourth and Ferris re-took fifth. Loud’s increased his lead to 14-seconds at the start of lap three. Loud took the easy win. Hilstolsky, Smith, Shupp and Louis Sloboda rounded out the top five.

Loud, Massaro, Smith, Shupp and Timothy Richardson led the start of the final 250 C moto. The sloppy conditions forced the top five to spread out and go into survival mode. Loud had a three second lead after two and a half laps. Massaro went down on lap three allowing Smith to take second. Shupp, Hilstolsky and Ferris took third thru fifth. Loud took the checkers 16-seconds ahead of Smith. Shupp, Hilstolsky and Ferris closed out the top five.
